Jason Thomas Mraz is a singer and songwriter who was born in America. In 2000, he first gained prominence in the San Diego coffee shop scene. His First album, Waiting for My Rocket to Come, was released in 2002. When his second album, Mr. A-Z was released in 2005, it gained major commercial success. He has already won two Grammy Awards.

Early Life

Jason Mraz was born on 23 June 1977 in Mechanicsville, Virginia. His father’s name is Tom Mraz and mother’s name is June Tomes. He was admitted to Lee Davis High School where he was a member of the cheerleading squad, school chorus, and drama club.

He completed his graduation in 1995. He studied at American Musical and Dramatic Academy for a few months.

Music career

Mraz loved music and musical instruments from a young age. So, soon after coming to San Diego in 1999, he started to perform for the band Elgin Park. He and Toca Rivera, a member of the future band, started to perform at the coffee house Java Joe’s where he performed once a week for nearly three years.

Personal Life

On Christmas Eve 2010, Mraz was engaged to a long-time close friend Tristan Prettyman who is a singer-songwriter. But they broke off the engagement six months later. Then, Mraz married his girlfriend, Christina Carano.

Social activism

Mraz is an active social activist. Regularly, he participates in social works like human rights, LGBT equality, environment, etc. In 2011, he founded the Jason Mraz Foundation with a mission to support charities in the fields of education, human equality, and human rights.

Awards

Mraz is the two times Grammy Awards winner. He has also won two Teen Choice Awards, a People's Choice Award and the Hal David Songwriters Hall of Fame Award. He has achieved Platinum and multi-Platinum certifications in over 20 countries.
